Development of Pancreatic Cancer Research raised nearly £14,000 at a Tottenham Legends Charity Football Match held at Ware Football Club. The charity team, wearing personalized kits by Vandanel Kit Manafacturers with sponsors, Haslers logo raised in excess of £300 each for D.P.C.R. They were in great company, being coached by Peter Shreeves and John Moncur who awarded The Man of the Match to Hadley Silver.
A silent auction offering a day at the Spurs Training Grounds raised £1,000 with the winning bid from Sid Selner, Director of First Call Medical Recruitment Agency. Raffle prizes included a 42” Samsung TV, donated by Broadway Music and Vision and a signed Spurs shirt.
It was an honour to have The Mayor of Redbridge, Jim O’ Shea at the event, who is in remission of pancreatic cancer and kindly donated afternoon tea at his office for a raffle prize.
Carly Hand said “ It was a fantastic day with a brilliant turn out, fantastic volunteers and a great atmosphere. The amount raised was a tremendous achievement and thank you to all that supported the charity and of course all of the players”.
Pancreatic cancer is the fifth most common cause of cancer with one of the highest death rates of all cancers, yet only commands 1% of research funding. The survival rate of 5 years or more is 3%, the same as forty years ago. D.P.C.R is a charity dedicated to raising awareness of pancreatic cancer and raising funds for crucial medical research to enable early detection, new treatment and ultimately a cure.
